On 30 October 2026, Elon Musk on X named Neuralink’s first product Telepathy and its second product Blindsight. Telepathy uses the N1 brain implant, with 1,024 electrodes across 64 flexible threads, inserted by the R1 surgical robot into motor cortex, to let people, initially people with paralysis, control a computer cursor and keyboard, and communicate, by thought.

Neuralink’s 29 October post described a 72-hour hackathon with a speech-restoration study participant: voice-activity detection, a thought-controlled Grok agent triggered by thinking “Hey Neuralink,” and thought-based speech fed straight into iPhone calls via a new Bloom app.

Musk said Telepathy’s output bandwidth will vastly exceed the fastest human speech or typing in a few years, and that in a few years Neuralink hopes to shunt motor and sensory brain signals to limbs and enable people to use their hands and walk again.

For Blindsight, Musk said it will enable even those who are completely blind or have never seen to see, and is ready from an engineering standpoint, just waiting on regulatory approval.

Why the story travels is the combination of wonder and creep factor in one post-drop: mind-reading computers, a blind person seeing for the first time, paralysed people walking again, with a 72-hour thought-to-phone-call demo. It is not the already-covered Musk politics or donor story.

What is confirmed is Musk’s 30 October posts and quotes, that Neuralink has been in human clinical trials since early 2024, that trial participants have publicly demonstrated cursor control, chess and design software by thought, and that Blindsight received FDA Breakthrough Device Designation in September 2024.

What is not confirmed is that Blindsight restores sight in humans. That has not been demonstrated, and Neuralink’s own site describes its visual-prosthesis trials as future. Telepathy is not a consumer product you can buy, and it is not FDA-approved; it remains under clinical investigation. Bandwidth exceeding speech or typing, and paralysed people walking in a few years, are Musk forecasts, not results, and his past timelines have slipped. Thought-speech, Grok control and Bloom calls are hackathon prototypes with one study participant, not a general release.
